Taking place on October 26, 2022, International Print Day encourages the print sector to shout about its success and participate in 24 hour of global knowledge sharing. The day is intended to amplify global awareness of the print category and communicate what makes it such an important piece of modern commerce.

Creation notes that through tough economic conditions, including ongoing logistical challenges and rising material and ink costs from inflation, the print industry – and packaging in particular – should use the opportunity to reflect on its resilient performance and carry that momentum forwards.

Matt Francklow, Managing Director at Creation, explains: “It’s no secret that the print industry has been under immense pressure. In the space of a few short years, we have seen significant challenges in terms of the workforce and logistics, as well as widespread substrate shortages. With rising inflation, we are also seeing new cost demands.

“However, this International Print Day should be a cause for celebration as we look back on the challenges and acknowledge how robust the sector has remained, and that’s down to innovation and resilience. As a reprographic partner to printers and converters, we get to see its ingenuity first hand, and there’s a lot to celebrate. While market forces have been increasing the pressure on printers, incredible work is underway in terms of sustainability and performance, and that shouldn’t go unrecognised.”

Intended to share learning resources and networking opportunities, International Print Day is a unifying yearly event created for, and by, the print community. Businesses around the globe are invited to join the awareness day by sharing insight and expertise online using the hashtag #IPD22.

Matt concludes: “Ultimately, the UK print and packaging sector keeps proving its strength and innovation, so it’s important that we can take a step back and celebrate that. International Print Day is a great opportunity to do so, so we will be marking the event at Creation and sharing insight from our perspective. We’d love to see the UK packaging and label print industry do the same!”
